Unlike visible light that is scattered by the most superficial layers of the skin, Infrared radiation penetrates deeper Under the Skin and is reflected back from the inside, canceling out all blemishes and giving a unique glow effect.

All portraits were shot using only candles as a light source: candles do indeed have little emission in the visible band of the spectrum but are very efficient when shooting IR.
